2011 95th Evac Reunion Well here, it is again time for the 2011 REUNION. The 2011 REUNION is for Thursday April 28 – Sunday May 1 2011 in the Washington DC area. The theme for this event is REMEMBRANCE highlighted with a wreath laying at the Vietnam Memorial on Saturday April 30. In keeping with the location, many have asked that we allow plenty of time to go sightseeing on you r own. We will provide a list of tour bus companies that operate in the local area with the mail out. Other than the Memorial, all the other events will take place at the hotel in the evening. In April 2010, we will send out both an e-mail and a snail mail announcement. This announcement will contain the event registration, FEE Form and Hospitality Preference sheet. This information will be sent to the LAST known address we have for you. Please utilize the 95th EVAC website link to update your information and for others who are interested in attending. Here is what you NEED to KNOW NOW in order to mark your calendars. REUNION fees: The REUNION fee is $125.00. This covers two buffet dinners, flowers, and the cost of the `stuff´ for the hospitality suite which means drinks and other associated items. As with ALL previous Reunions, the fee is NOT refundable and is required from EACH person who attends. We request that you send the fee check at the same time you send your preference list. ALL unspent funds are turned over to the next host as a nest egg. You can make hotel reservations beginning May 1, 2010. The hotel site is the Crowne Plaza Dulles Airport, 2200 Centreville Road Herndon, Virginia 20170. The direct line is 703-674-0452 or e-mail at www.cpdulles.com. Mention the 95th Evac 2011 REUNION. The hotel offers free shuttle from Dulles Airport and is right next to a major METRO BUS stop for easy transit into downtown Washington. The room cost is $79.00 per night with a current sales tax of 9%, which should be in the total range of: $87.00. As with previous Reunions, you are responsible for making your own reservations and payment. Many of you indicated that you do intent to arrive early to take advantage of the sightseeing. The room rates do allow you to check in 3-5 days early at the same rate. The hotel offers a free shuttle over to the Air-Space Museum Annex. In addition, there are more than enough many places to spend you money at nearby Tyson’s Corner. At this time, there are three FREE RV spaces at the hotel. These spaces are first come first served. You must make reservations direct to the hotel for the space. REUNION dates: Thursday, April 28th is the unofficial, if you are in town early get together, dinner. This one will be held at Bertucci´s Italian Restaurant, which is about 100 feet from the hotel. Friday, April 29th is the official check in. In response to requests, there will be a buffet dinner and general get together. Light snacks and other goodies are available in the hospitality suite until we run out. Saturday, April 30th. The current `plan´ is to go to the Vietnam Memorial for wreath lying is at both the `WALL” and the Nurses Memorial. Both are located within 100 feet. We are looking at the option of the cost of a bus to take the group over to the Memorial. You are of course free to go by yourself but PARKING at the site is VERY limited. The Foggy Bottom METRO STOP is about 6 blocks from the Memorial. In the hospitality suite, light snacks and other goodies will again be available. Saturday night is the main buffet dinner with presentations (we are working on guest speakers) and the vote for the next REUNION. Hospitality suite is open before and after dinner. If you want to make a presentation that should be made known along with how much time needed when you submit your registration information. Sunday May 1st is checkout. We will hold a short business meeting from 9:00-10:00am for those who are departing later in the day. You May extent your reservation for another 3 days at the same rate. Other wise, see you in DC in 2011. Sincerely, Steve & Macrina Galloway
